16-year-old’s death marks Lexington’s 8th homicide
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington continues to see a decline in homicides this year compared to previous years, but recent reports indicate that teenagers are still falling victim to deadly shootings.
The search continues for the person responsible for the fatal shooting of a teenager last week. Police say the incident occurred Friday at the Gatehouse Apartments on Liberty Road. The Fayette County Coroner identified the victim on Tuesday as 16-year-old C’aveyoun Robinson. Officials report that the teen was found dead in the apartment complex’s parking lot.
Robinson’s death marks the third teen shooting fatality in 2024 and the city’s eighth confirmed homicide this year. By this time last year, Lexington had recorded at least 12 homicides.
Police crime data shows a reduction in overall homicides, but the community remains concerned about the ongoing violence affecting its youth.
Authorities urge anyone with information about any of the shootings to contact Lexington Police or leave an anonymous tip with Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.
