16-year-old charged after shooting on Hedgewood Court in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A juvenile has been charged in connection with a shooting Monday evening on Hedgewood Court in Lexington, according to a release from police.

Police say officers were sent around 6:53 p.m. to a home in the 200 block of Hedgewood Court after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a female victim who had been shot.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. An update on her condition has not been released.

According to the release, a 16-year-old juvenile was taken into custody at the scene. Police say the juvenile has been charged with first-degree assault and is currently being held at a juvenile detention center.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details have not been released.
