Fayette County and YMCA hold Back-to-School-Rally
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fayette County Public Schools partnered with the YMCA for their annual Back-to-School Rally. FCPS and the YMCA handed out free school supplies to make sure no child went back to school unprepared.
The rallies took place in 17 locations across Fayette and Jessamine County. At Douglas Park, the rally featured a moon bounce and an appearance from local artist Devine Carama.
“I think today is wonderful,” said parent Prescilla Owsley.
The YMCA and FCPS have worked together since 2011. The YMCA says that nearly 6,000 students benefit from the free supplies and nearly 48,000 have been served since the push began.
“This really is community driven. It’s about bringing the community together to support our students,” said Jessica Berry, the YMCA’s Vice President of Youth Development.
