Rowan Co. shooting suspect’s trailer caught fire Sunday

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a weekend fire that it suspects is arson.

The home belonged to Harvey Kissick, the man being charged in connection to the Cave Run Bingo Hall shooting that happened right before the Fourth of July. The sheriff’s office believes the shooting was in response to hearing the victims’ setting off fireworks.

The sheriff’s office says it got its first call regarding the trailer around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning, saying it was being burglarized. They received a second call around 1:30 p.m. that the trailer was on fire.

Sheriff Matt Sparks says a TV was take and some vintage motorcycle parts.
He also says he thinks the burglary and fire may be related though it’s hard to tell.

The sheriff’s office says it believes the fire was set intentionally.

“Anytime you have something burn with nobody present you always suspect arson,” says Sheriff Matt Sparks. “Obviously there could be electrical issues, things like that, but you seem to suspect arson when no one is in a residence at the time it burns.”

The shooting left two people in critical condition. The sheriff says one victim was released from the hospital recently but the second victim is paralyzed from his chest down and still on a ventilator.

The sheriff says they don’t have a certain suspect in mind.

“We’re not just focused on the victims and victim’s family,” says Sheriff Sparks. “Maybe it was an insurance-type job.”

The sheriff office says it has no leads at this time.
