More than 150 KY soldiers headed to Middle East

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – Family and friends said their good-byes to more than 150 Kentucky soldiers who are on their way to the Middle East.

A deployment ceremony for the Kentucky National Guard’s 206th Engineer Battalion was held Friday morning in Owensboro.

The soldiers will be heading to the US Central Command Area of Operations to conduct construction mission in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The 206th mission while deployed will be managing construction and facilities maintenance projects focused on force protection across the region.

The unit was last deployed in 2006 to Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
