#15 Kentucky falls to Texas on the road 82-78; back to .500 in SEC
AUSTIN, Tx. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky was short on veteran guards against Texas Saturday night, as they were without the likes of Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson and Kerr Kriisa.
Otega Oweh finished with 20 points and continued his streak of double-figure scoring in every game this season. However, Oweh was the only guard that score in double-digits against the Longhorns. Trent Noah and Travis Perry finished with seven points and six points respectively.
Amari Williams took advantage of his size down low. He tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds. The cats had 34 points in the paint.
There were two big killers for Kentucky Saturday night. The first being turnovers. The cats turned the ball over 15 times, ten in the second half alone. The longhorns were able to convert 21 points off these mistakes.
The other killer was the last four minutes. Kentucky was in the fight until the longhorns went on a 14-1 run in the final few minutes to put the cats away for good. Mark Pope said the team battled well for 36 minutes, but those four minutes cost them the game.
The cats are back at Rupp Arena on Wednesday to host Vanderbilt at 7 p.m.
