14-hour standoff in Lexington ends peacefully

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say they have arrested a man after a 14-hour hostage standoff at an apartment.

Police say they were called to the Eastridge Apartments on Alumni Drive at around 2:30 p.m. Saturday about a 19-year-old being held against his will by his father.

A SWAT team and bomb squad were called in. Police say people were then told to stay away from the apartment complex.

The standoff ended at 4:15 a.m. Sunday when police say the suspect, 52-year-old Mitchell Keiser, came out and surrendered.

His son was not harmed.

Keiser is charged with unlawful imprisonment and violation of an emergency protective order.
