Scott County school mourns loss of murdered teen
SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Heavy hearts in Scott County as people mourn the loss of Morgan Penn, 15.
Friends and family say Penn was shot and killed while inside a trailer at the Parker’s Mobile Home Park in Stamping Ground early Saturday morning.
Penn was spunky and spontaneous, according to her friends. They say she laughed about everything and now they’re trying to remember the good times they shared with her.
“She wouldn’t want us all to cry right now,” said Kirstin Carter who was a friend of Penn’s. “She’d want us to rock out to some music and just sit there and think about all the times that’d we had with her.”
Penn had just started school at Scott County Ninth Grade School. The district released a statement:
“On behalf of the staff and students of Scott County Schools, we offer our sincere condolences to the family of Morgan Penn, a student at Scott County Ninth Grade School. Counselors and school psychologists will be on hand to assist students as they grieve this tragic loss. We will continue to keep Morgan’s family and friends in our thoughts during this difficult time.”
State Police aren’t releasing many details of the shooting but troopers say it was not random.
Michael Davidson, 27, is accused of Penn’s murder. State Police say more charges are pending.
Morgan’s funeral will be this Thursday at 10am at Tucker Yokum Funeral Home in Georgetown. There are also several two GoFundMe pages in her name to help the family pay for funeral expenses.
