13 acts highlight the Kentucky Stage at the Kentucky Crafted Market

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Visitors to the Kentucky Arts Council’s two-day Kentucky Crafted Market will be treated to the sounds of 13 of the best and most diverse musical acts in Kentucky.

The Kentucky Stage adds a music festival atmosphere to the annual event that features dozens of Kentucky Crafted artists during The Market’s public hours March 16-17 at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena in Lexington.

Each performing artist on the Kentucky Stage is a participant in the arts council’s adjudicated Performing Artists Directory.

For singer-songwriter Jeri Katherine Howell of Frankfort, her performance on the Kentucky Stage will represent a rite of passage. Though this is her first time performing at the event as a member of the Performing Artists Directory, she has performed at Market before. As part of a folk and traditional arts apprenticeship with master artist Carla Gover in 2011, Howell performed with Gover on the Kentucky Stage.

Howell’s set on the Kentucky Stage begins at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 17.

Saturday’s stage performances will be capped with Western Kentucky University Folklife program’s presentation of the Homer Ledford Award to Ray Deweese, maker of Glespie Guitars.

American Sign Language interpreters will be provided for all Kentucky Stage performances. Musicians from the performing groups will sell merchandise and meet fans following their respective performances.

11 a.m. – Art Mize, Americana/Celtic
Noon – Phourist & the Photons, pop/rock
1 p.m. – The Local Honeys, Americana
2 p.m. – Cari Norris, Appalachian
3 p.m. – JOANNA~JAMES, Americana
4 p.m. – Kentucky Wild Horse, string band
5 p.m. – Presentation of the Homer Ledford Award and music by the honoree

Sunday, March 17
10 a.m. – A Girl Named Earl, Americana
11 a.m. – Marcus Wilkerson, singer/songwriter
Noon – Barrenheart, bluegrass/Celtic
1 p.m. – TDH, jazz/Americana
2 p.m. – Jeri Katherine Howell with Nat Colten, Americana
3 p.m. – The Bats, Americana

The Market doors open to the public March 16-17. Hours for The Market are:
