Man accused of breaking into homes and raping women

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say they have arrested a man who raped two women; one of those victims was over 70 years old.

Police say the first attack happened last year and the other happened just this week.
Court documents  say it was  DNA evidence that led police to their suspect.

According to documents, back in April 2015, 28-year-old Jeffery Cummins broke into a woman’s home, stole money, then led her at knife-point  back to a bedroom where he raped her.

Court documents say Cummins is also linked to another rape that happened this week.
Investigators say he broke into a home, raped a woman then tried to destroy evidence by pouring bleach on the victim.

Police say DNA left from a palm print on a window Cummins broke to get in helped link him to the crime.

Police say in addition to rape and burglary charges, Cummins is also charged with child pornography which they say they found on his cell phone after his arrest.

He is scheduled to answer to those charges in court Tuesday.
