Covington police arrest suspect in McKee Street shooting; 12-year-old remains in critical condition
COVINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Covington Police say a suspect is now in custody following a shooting that left a 12-year-old boy seriously injured in the Latonia neighborhood.
According to an update released early Monday morning, Jayden Marsh, 19, of Covington, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting. Police say he is being held at the Kenton County Detention Center. The juvenile victim remains in critical condition.
Investigators say officers were first called to the 4300 block of McKee Street around 4:49 p.m. Sunday for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the 12-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police say the child was taken by ambulance to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives with the Covington Police Department, along with the agency’s Evidence Collection Unit, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Earlier, officials said no suspects had been detained and they did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the public.
