#12 Georgia run-rules #13 Kentucky in SEC Tournament opener

ATHENS, Ga. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The wildcats were swiftly eliminated from the 2025 SEC Softball Tournament after an 8-0 run-rule loss to Georgia in five innings on Tuesday afternoon.

Georgia plated three runs in the first inning and added five more in the fourth to seal the win. Kentucky managed just three hits, but couldn’t bring anyone home.

The cats finished their season 7-17 in conference and 29-25 overall.

Kentucky must wait to see if they’ll receive an NCAA Tournament bid. The NCAA selection show is Sunday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
