11-year-old boy killed in ATV crash in Knott County
KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — An 11-year-old boy has died following an ATV crash in the Emmalena community of Knott County.
According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened Monday on a surface mine road near Sylvester Branch. Investigators say the child was allegedly speeding on an ATV when he lost control, causing the vehicle to crash and flip multiple times.
State Police say the boy was thrown from the ATV and died from his injuries at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, according to investigators.
The incident remains under investigation by KSP.
