Lexington firefighter falls down stairs while battling fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Lexington fire department says a firefighter fell down some stairs while battling a house fire.  It happened Monday afternoon on Briar Hill Road.

Investigators say firefighters were going through the house to make sure no one was inside. They say crews were on the second floor when the firefighter fell. The department says a mayday and second alarm went out. But they say they were cancelled one crews confirmed the firefighter was okay.

According to investigators, the fire destroyed the home. No one was home at the time.
