American Pharaoh Maker’s Mark Bourbon sells out at Liquor Barn
Hundreds of people were here at “Liquor Barn” Hamburg location. Managers say some were here early as 4am, before the store opened at 1pm. ABC 36 News spoke with one gentleman who came just an hour and a half before he says the lines were already wrapped around the back side into the back parking lot. Of course they were all here to grab a piece of history, the collector’s American Pharaoh edition of Maker’s Mark Bourbon.
They had people out here directing the crowd only letting small groups of people in at a time. American Pharaoh, of course, winning last year’s Triple Crown would make the ultimate party drink at your derby next weekend. But for most it’s a collector’s dream they will showcase for future generations.
Louisville resident Jeff Romine says, “I’m actually going to hang on to this. I have a silver one that’s Affirmed, which was one of the last of the seventies Triple Crown winners. I have it, it’s all silver Maker’s Mark. I’m just going to put this up in my collection and you know, just look at it and enjoy it.”
Lexington resident Taylor Moody says, “It means a lot because American Pharaoh did something that was really hard to do and it’s kind of like life you only get one shot to do something amazing like that. And itt really means a lot to me, speaks a lot to me, that he was able to pull it off.”
Now if you missed today’s special release unfortunately you probably won’t be able to find it in any retail stores near you. Liquor Barn’s Hamburg location was out in just about 30 minutes. They only had about 200 bottles to go around.
Maker’s Mark will also make a donation to the Kentucky Derby Museum.
