Elementary students meet their high school pen pals in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -Pen pals became in-person friends at Athens-Chilesburg elementary on Tuesday.

9th and 10th graders from Henry Clay High School have been writing the second-graders at AC over the course of the school year.  Teachers say the students talk about school, sports, hobbies in their communications, and have bonded with each other by writing back and forth.

On Tuesday, the elementary students got to meet their pen pals face-to-face for the first time, as the high schoolers made a visit to their school.

Luke Kotter of Athens-Chilesburg Elementary says, “It’s really great getting to meet my pen pal after we’ve been writing back and forth through out the whole year.”
