Richmond police to name building in honor of slain officer
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Richmond Police Department says it is naming its building to honor a slain police officer.
Officer Daniel Ellis was killed in the line of duty last fall. Police say he was investigating a robbery when he was shot. Ellis died two days later at the hospital.
Richmond police say the city commission approved the naming of the building to recognize Ellis’ service and sacrifice.
The department says a plaque will be unveiled during a ceremony at 8:30 Friday morning. The public is invited to attend the ceremony at 1721 Lexington Road.
