One year later: Remembering Jonathan Krueger

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Heavy hearts on the University of Kentucky’s campus as people remember Jonathan Krueger.

It’s been one year since Lexington police say Krueger, 22, was murdered while walking home early in the morning of April 17th.

Krueger, a junior at the time, was photo editor for the Kentucky Kernel, UK’s student newspaper.

Friends say he was a selfless person who loved life and made an impact on everyone that he met.

“He lived a great life and was always joyful and always happy and I think that’s the trait that he left us with,” said Michael Reaves, a friend of Krueger’s.

UK held a memorial service on Monday for friends and family to share stories.

A scholarship fund has been set up in Krueger’s memory for future students who work at the Kentucky Kernel. It’s already raised more than $30 thousand.

The three people accused of Krueger’s murder are scheduled to go to trial March 2017.
