Third suspect in custody following Woodland Avenue Shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a third suspect is in custody following a shooting Saturday on Woodland Avenue.

According to court documents, four men had a plan to rob another man, during a supposed drug deal.
Police say two of the men met up with the victim on Woodland Avenue while two others hid in the bushes nearby carrying a gun and wearing masks.

Documents say while in the middle of the drug deal the two masked men emerged and tried to rob the victim.The victim then pulled out a gun and shot two of the men. One of the men, 28-year-old James Gordon died.

Nicholas Coriaci, 18, was also shot. Coriaci along with 19-year-old Jaydon Whalen were arrested Monday.
A third suspect, Alex Ferrell, 19, was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Police say all three are University of Kentucky students and are charged with robbery.

The shooter has claimed self-defense and has not been charged, according to police.
