Could Lexmark be sold?

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexmark could change ownership.

Fortune magazine reports that Apex Technology, a Chinese company that makes ink cartridge chips, is in talks to buy Lexmark.

The magazine says Lexmark needs assurances that Apex can close the deal.

It also quotes Apex executives as saying there’s no certainty that a deal will materialize.

Apex executives are planning to meet with Lexmark leaders this month.

Just two weeks ago, Lexmark announced the laying off of 140 workers from its Lexington location – about six percent of its 2,300 employees.
