Mother charged with endangering welfare of child

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel Co. Sheriff says a mother who was found intoxicated in a home with no electricity or water has been arrested for endangering the welfare of her children.

According to the Sheriff, deputies received a call around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday complaining about an intoxicated woman at a home on Willie Green Road with two minors.  When deputies arrived, they say the door of the home was standing open.  Deputies say they found the mother, 39-year-old Emily Taylor with her nine-month-old daughter.  Investigators say Taylor was under the influence, and say she admitted to taking Suboxone and other unknown pills.

While in the home, deputies discovered that there was no electricity or water at the residence, and say Taylor told them services had been turned off for about 2 days.  They also say they found ruined food in the refrigerator and garbage all over the home.  Investigators added that 5-gallon buckets were being used as a toilet.

Taylor was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and public intoxication.  Social services was called to the scene and placed the nine-month-old child with a relative.

Taylor was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
