Search continues for missing 10-year-old Jayden Spicer in Breathitt County

BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) The search continues Thursday for 10-year-old Jayden Spicer, who was reported missing Wednesday morning from the Panbowl Branch area in Breathitt County.

According to KSP, Wednesday, search teams covered more than 20 square miles using a range of resources—including ATVs, drones, K-9 units, sonar, and helicopters. Crews with the Quicksand and Jackson Fire Departments joined the effort alongside the Breathitt County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management, and Kentucky State Police. The last rescue team left the woods shortly after 3:00 a.m. Thursday to prepare for a second day of searching.

Efforts resumed at daybreak, with officials again concentrating on the Panbowl Branch area. Because of the narrow one-lane roadways, public access is being restricted to avoid congestion and ensure crews can work without interference.

While many individuals and organizations have offered to help, authorities are asking that no one enter the search zone unless they are officially authorized.

Jayden is described as 5 feet 1 inch tall, with a slim build, blonde hair, and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue Sonic the Hedgehog pajamas around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Anyone with information is urged to contact KSP Post 13 in Hazard at (606) 435-6069.
