KSP: 3 dead in 2 separate crashes along Hal Rogers Parkway in Leslie County
LESLIE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW via LEX NEWS) —

Kentucky State Police is investigating two deadly crashes that happened hours apart Saturday on the Hal Rogers Parkway in Leslie County.
The first collision happened around 2:54 p.m. near the 37-mile marker when a state trooper came upon a two-vehicle crash during patrol.
Investigators said a red Nissan Juke driven by 17-year-old Taegan Mosley of Hyden was traveling westbound when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Ford Expedition head-on.
Mosley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Leslie County Coroner’s Office.
State police said the driver of the Ford Expedition and a juvenile passenger were flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.
A passenger in the Expedition, 64-year-old Penny Ison of Cornettsville, was taken by ambulance to Mary Breckinridge Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Hours later, while crews were still working the original crash scene and the road remained closed, a second deadly collision happened in the same area.
According to investigators, around 7:43 p.m. a gray Chevrolet Traverse driven by 42-year-old Tracie Whittymore of London drove through the road closure and crashed into the rear of a parked commercial motor vehicle.
Whittymore was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kentucky State Police said toxicology testing is pending in both crashes. No autopsies will be conducted.
Detective Scott Caudill is leading the crash reconstruction investigation.

One person is dead after a two-vehicle collision on Hal Rogers Parkway in Leslie County on Saturday, according to Kentucky State Police.
According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Matt Gayhart, units were dispatched to a head-on collision at mile-marker 37 on Hal Rogers Parkway in Leslie County at 2:57 p.m. on Saturday, about a mile from the Clay County line.
One person was killed in the collision, but it’s unclear if there were any other injuries, according to Gayhart.
The identity of the person killed has not been released to the public at this time.
Kentucky State Police were still on-scene investigating as of 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
