FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – As part of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s $6 million Carol Malone Boulevard (KY 7/KY 1) widening project, US 60 east, or Main Street, in Grayson will need a two-day closure for storm drain construction.
On Monday, Aug. 2 at 7 a.m., contractors will close all US 60 lanes on the east side of Carol Malone Boulevard in front of Grayson City Hall. Barricades will be placed and a detour will be marked:
- Westbound US 60 traffic will turn right onto KY 3297 (Robert and Mary Street), continue north to Third Street, then turn left onto Third Street to Carol Malone Boulevard (KY 7/KY 1). Turn left (south) on Carol Malone to return to US 60 west.
- Eastbound US 60 traffic will turn left onto Carol Malone Boulevard, turn right on Third Street, then right onto KY 3297 (Robert and Mary Street) to return to US 60 east.
- Truck traffic and larger commercial vehicles should seek alternate routes.
- Carol Malone Boulevard traffic needing access to US 60 east will be directed to Third Street to follow the detour.
The detour will last until Tuesday, Aug. 3 as crews work through the night to install an 18-inch storm drain under US 60 and reconnect downtown manholes at the US 60-Carol Malone intersection.
Work is expected to finish by mid to late afternoon Tuesday.
During the detour, traffic along KY 3297 and connecting routes could get congested. Delays are likely. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes if possible.
