SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 34-year-old Eubank, Ky., man has been charged with murder, burglary, evidence tampering and drug possession in connection with the death of another man earlier this month.
According to Pulaski County Sheriff’s Greg Speck, Det. Lt. Bobby Jones charged Jesse Roberts Thursday evening.
He is being held on $250,000 bond following arraignment Thursday morning in Pulaski County District Court.
According to Speck and Jones, the charges stem from a July 17 robbery at a home R.D. Floyd Road in northern Pulaski County.
When deputies arrived, they found an altercation had occurred between Roberts and 49-year-old David Naylor. Roberts and another man, Ryan Davis, told deputies Naylor tried to rob Roberts at gunpoint and Roberts hit him in the head, according to a statement from Speck.
But further investigation and evidence contradicted those claims, Speck said, noting Naylor “was already deceased with obvious head injuries when he was found at his home sometime later,” Speck said in his statement.
The case will be presented to the Pulaski County Grand Jury at a later date.
“The homicide still is under investigation,” Jones said.
