BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – The entire city of Berea is currently without power.
According to the City of Berea’s Facebook page, Berea Utilities lost one phase of the transmission line feeding the city. The city government has been in contact with Kentucky Utilities who is aware of the problem and working on fixing it.
The most recent update from city government said that KU is working to back feed the city through another transmission provider.
Additionally, in an effort to not overload the city’s emergency response system, all calls have been transferred to Daupler, Berea’s after-hours service.
A report from the Richmond Register stated that according to Berea’s Chief of Police Eric Scott, the issue is not related to infrastructure.
The City of Berea and the Richmond Register’s report claim there is no timeline on when the power will return.
The outage has affected various services around Berea, as the city’s Parks and Recreation Facebook page announced that the pool is currently closed.
