Early morning Lexington car theft turns into shooting


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was injured early Monday morning following a car theft that led to a shooting.

According to the Lexington Police Department, the robbery happened at Kenesaw Drive around 1:30 a.m. on July 26. The suspect approached the victim with a gun and demanded his phone, wallet and keys.

The confrontation led to the victim being shot. His injuries are non-life threatening.

The victim and his brother found the car in a ditch on Alumni Drive near Buckhorn Drive.

K-9 units responded to the scene to try to locate the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

The suspect is unknown and there is no known motive as of now. Authorities are unsure if the incident is isolated.
