VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – This is the second year the Woodford Humane Society has had to host it’s annual summer fundraiser in a reduced capacity due to the pandemic.
The summer gala is the humane society’s biggest fundraiser, bringing in about $100,000 to cover their needs. This year, the gala looked very different with volunteers working a drive-through line handing out Keeneland’s bourbon bread pudding to those who bought tickets.
“We waited as long as we could to see if we were gonna be able to get enough people in to actually make it make sense to have a big in person event,” says Woodford Humane Society marketing director Beth Oleson. “I wanna say like two weeks before all the restrictions were lifted we had sorta just had to make the call that we couldn’t do it this year.”
Woodford Humane says the date for next year is booked so mark your calendars for July 23, 2022.
