Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 26-year-old man who managed to elude police for two weeks after being named publicly as a suspect in the June 17 shooting death of 38-year-old Jocko Green outside a Winnie Street apartment has been captured.

Lexington Police say Danzell Cruse was located and arrested Thursday, July 8 in Frankfort with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and Frankfort Police Department.

He is charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in the Franklin County Regional Jail. He also is charged with parole violation and is being held on a $1,010,000 full cash bond, according to jail records. He has no bond on the parole violation.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A suspect has been named for the June 17, 2021 shooting death of 38-year-old Jocko Green.

The 26-year-old suspect, Danzell Cruse, has warrants for murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, according to Lexington Police.

Cruse is considered to be armed and dangerous, police said.

Visitation for Jocko Dianti Green is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 22 at Unity Church, 1975 Haggard Court in Lexington with the service to follow.

Green died Thursday evening, June 17, after being shot outside apartments in the 600 block of Winnie Street.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The man who died from gunshot wounds Thursday evening in Lexington has been identified as 38-year-old Jocko Dianti Green, of Lexington, according to Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn.

He was pronounced dead at 7:08 p.m. at UK Chandler Medical Center, Ginn said. Gunshot wounds were the cause of death, the coroner said.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, Ginn said.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police are investigating a shooting victim who died from his injuries.

At approximately 3:53 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2021, officers responded to the 600 block of Winnie Street for a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old man who had been shot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s name will be released by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

ORIGINAL STORY POST 4:30 P.M. JUNE 17, 2021

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington man suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting Thursday afternoon.

According to Lexington Police, the shooting call came in at about 3:50 p.m. at an apartment complex in the area of 645 Winnie St. Officers found a man behind the buildings suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police said the man is in his 30s.

Shell casings also were found, police said.

The victim was taken to UK hospital by medical personnel.

At this time, information about the suspect is limited and no arrests have been made.

As this investigation is ongoing, police ask any witnesses to come forward and please call the Lexington Police Department.
