Fayette County records day of double digit new COVID cases

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A slight jump in COVID case numbers that started during the holiday weekend continues.

But it’s still unclear whether the numbers are related to holiday changes in reporting or an actual slight increase in new cases.

According to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s Thursday report, the county recorded 16 new cases Wednesday, pushing the total since March 2020 to 35,626.

The seven-day moving average remained at 9.

The county reported no new deaths, leaving at 323 lost to COVID-related causes since March 2020.

The monthly totals of COVID-19 cases during the outbreak are:

To keep cases from increasing, continue to follow these guidelines:
• Wear a cloth face-covering in public
• Avoid close contact with others
• Wash your hands often
• Stay home if you are sick
• Get vaccinated when you have the opportunity.
