NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington firefighter was arrested Friday at his Nicholasville home, accused of stealing money from a youth softball team he coaches, according to Nicholasville Police.
Police say Michael Garrett was the only person who had access to the team’s bank account, which had more than $1,600 in it.
Investigators say Garrett took money from the account for his own personal use.
Police say they received complaints from parents of players about missing money from the team’s account.
Garrett was taken to the Jessamine County Detention Center and held without bond on theft charges, according to the detention center’s website.
The Lexington Fire Department says Garrett has been placed on administrative duty with pay, pending an internal investigation.
