LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Believe it or not Christmas is about a week away and while many of you might still be buying presents, some seniors across Central Kentucky got theirs early.
Senior Sleigh has been working to gather thousands of presents over the last couple of weeks to brighten up what will be an otherwise isolated holiday.
“Today’s delivery day!” Creator of Senior Sleigh Missy Ward said.
2,300 presents were delivered on Wednesday to six different nursing homes.
The seniors asked for up to three presents and Senior Sleigh brought them some holiday joy.
“They need something to brighten their day. To make somebody feel like they were remembered during this isolation time.”
Missy says it feels good to know so many people care. They’re willing to go out, pick out presents and spend money for someone they don’t even know.
Wildcat Moving is helping in its own way, the company says it likes to give back to the community by helping deliver all kinds of gifts and presents, not just during the holidays but throughout the year.
“Delivering these gifts to people to children, seniors, families is probably one of the most rewarding things that we can do. It helps them know that the people in the community want to help remember them, to support them,” Marketing Director of Wildcat Moving Meredith Turk said.
She says the smiles on their face are worth every second.
