LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Four months later than usual, Kentuckians are showing their pride virtually.
Lexington’s Pride Festival is usually held in June, but was moved to this past weekend because of the pandemic. There were some in-person festivities like Pride Restaurant Week benefiting the organization and a drive-by parade.
The virtual event was complete with live performances and well wishes from many celebrities, including Conrad Ricamora from How to Get Away with Murder, singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge, and Anthony Rapp from Rent and Star Trek: Discovery who all took to social media to wish the LGBTQ community and its allies a happy pride.
“I’m wishing all of central Kentucky a happy pride be there for one another. It’s okay to feel however you are feeling. And it’s still okay to be yourself,” said Ricamora.
