LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell launched the first attack-ad of the general election on Wednesday against his Democratic opponent, Amy McGrath.
The 30-second ad uses the words of a Democrat against McGrath, quoting the man who came up just short of defeating her in the June Primary.
“Perhaps Charles Booker had the best line on McGrath saying, “I know Kentuckians can smell BS from miles away.” That’s a Democrat on Amy McGrath.”
The ad also features criticism of McGrath from newspapers during the Primary. It also seizes on the perception that McGrath is limping into the election after her narrow victory last month.
McGrath’s campaign manager told the Lexington Herald Leader that McConnell is looking to shift the focus away from “the atrocious job he’s doing in Congress.”
