BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 66-year-old Boyle County man is charged domestic violence attempted murder after allegedly fired as many as four shotgun rounds through the front door of his girlfriend’s apartment.
According to Boyle County Sheriff’s deputies, John Leon Washington was arrested late Friday night following the incident at Northtown Apartments in Junction City.
Deputies Jacob and Brandon Conley along with Junction City Police Chief Russell Preston responded to a report of shots fired by a man dressed in camouflage armed with a shotgun. They confronted and detained Washington and during a search of the area, recovered a 20-gauge Mossberg shotgun and two rifles, according to the department.
According to multiple witness statements, Washington went to the apartment of his former girlfriend, armed with a shotgun, and stated he was going to kill her. Witnesses told deputies Washington fired “three to four rounds through the front door of the apartment,” with her inside, deputies said in a Facebook post.
In addition to attempted murder, Washington is charged with second-degree criminal mischief.
