MARTIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A person was rescued after more than an hour clinging ti a tree Monday night during flooding caused by heavy rains.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department posted a picture on its Facebook page of first responders carrying a person on a stretcher. The person apparently was caught in Beaver Creek, which runs through the center of Martin in central Floyd County.

Martin Police and the Kentucky State Police assisted in the rescue, according to the Facebook post, which provided no other details about how the person got in the water, their age, or other descriptions.

Floyd County was hit hard by Monday storms with hundreds of residents left without power fr a good part of Monday and into Tuesday.
