MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – I-75 was shut down for about 90 minutes early Friday morning while investigators checked a report of a suspicious package.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the package was reported on the exit 87 overpass on I-75 at mile marker 87 in Madison County near Richmond.
Transportation crews, Kentucky State Police hazardous devices experts and investigators, emergency management and Richmond fire and police responded to the scene, according to the Transportation Cabinet.
The interstate was shut down in both directions after an unidentified caller reported a bomb threat and the supposed package at about 1 a.m.
The interstate was reopened after about 90 minutes. The Transportation Cabinet reported the reopening at about 2:50 a.m.
