Distillery giant donates to COVID-19 relief


LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – With almost 1,000 employees in and around Louisville and 4,700 worldwide, Brown-Forman Corporation announced a $1 million donation to COVID-19 response funds.

The initial gifts help the people who have helped grow Brown-Forman, especially bartenders, restaurant workers and other service-industry staff.

“We are joining our colleagues in the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States and making a donation to the United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) Foundation Emergency Assistance Program to help them during this time of need,” said Brown-Forman CEO Lawson Whiting.

“As COVID-19 has spread throughout the world, we want to provide assistance to our communities in this time of great need,” Whiting added.

The company also is partnering with the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation to support its relief fund.

“We are encouraging people to make a donation to the foundation and we will match dollar-for-dollar donations,” he said, noting the company match will go up to $100,000.

The company also is making a donation to One Louisville which is supporting resources and financial assistance to households, businesses, and community organizations.

The Brown-Forman Corporation includes such alcohol brands, including Jack Daniel’s, Finlandia, Korbel, el Jimador, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, Coopers’ Craft, Canadian Mist, Herradura, New Mix, Sonoma-Cutrer, Early Times, Chambord, BenRiach, GlenDronach, Slane, and Fords Gin.
