JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Central Kentucky family will come back from a ski vacation to a fire-damaged home.
Crews arrived at the home located between Nicholasville and Versailles on Colonial Drive Thursday afternoon, according to Jessamine County Assistant Fire Chief Danny Eades.
Eades says a family of five lives in the home, but were away on a ski trip when the fire started.
According to Eades, there were factors that made battling the fire difficult for firefighters.
“The size of the house, and the wind today, and the fire in the attic area, voids in the walls, just made it a difficult fire to extinguish,” he said.
There was extensive damage to the roof of the home.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
