LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A new online portal that went into effect on Tuesday is designed to make it easier to register as an organ and tissue donor in Kentucky.
Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) and Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks’ Trust For Life (KCCCTFL) announced the launch. Officials say it’s part of the Commonwealth’s ongoing initiative to register more organ and tissue donors.
According to officials, the portal comes as a result of Senate Bill 77, which was signed into law last year. They say the Kentucky Online Gateway is designed to keep residents’ data safe.
Officials say more than 113,000 women, men and children in Kentucky are awaiting life-saving organ and tissue transplants.
The portal is available here.
