GREENUP, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police are investigating an officer involved shooting that started in Ohio and ended here in Kentucky.
KSP says just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Ohio Highway Patrol tried to pull over a car on US 23 for an illegal registration plate. They say the driver sped off, and that’s when shots were fired from the car.
Troopers say once the chase crossed into Kentucky, shots were fired again from the car officials were chasing. Portsmouth Police, also helping in the chase, shot back, injuring the driver, according to troopers.
KSP says once Portsmouth Police fired shots, the driver and passenger were arrested.
The driver was identified as 31-year-old Amanda Cochran, who police say has three active warrants through Kentucky and Ohio. Cochran was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Cochran’s passenger was identified as 34-year-old John Clifton. Clifton was arrested on multiple drug charges and two counts of a convicted felon in possession of a handgun charges.
