LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Laurel County man who pleaded guilty in connection to a 2018 car crash that killed his wife will spend more than a decade behind bars.
Joshua Allen Stopher was driving under the influence when he tried to make a left turn, crossing into the path of an oncoming pickup truck on US 25. His wife, Charity Stopher, who was a passenger in his car, died at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was injured, but survived.
Stopher was arrested in August of 2019.
He pleaded guilty earlier this month to manslaughter, assault and driving under the influence in exchange for a recommended 13-year-sentence. On Monday, a judge upheld the sentencing recommendation.
