LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – For a limited time, you can buy clothing from one of the most famous closets in the Bluegrass and help a good cause at the same time.
Vintage clothing that belonged to the late Lexington socialite, Anita Madden, are being sold at Pops Resale in Lexington.
Madden was known for her extravagant Derby Eve parties in Lexington and had a wardrobe to match.
Every Friday at Pops Resale, a fresh rack of Madden’s clothes goes on sale.
Store owner, Daniel ‘Pop’ Shorr, says Madden’s closet is reflective of her bigger than life personality.
“If you know anything about Anita Madden, there was a lot of fur, a lot of sequins and a lot of feathers on everything. A lot of it was from fairly high-line designers, but some of it was just your regular, everyday purchase,” Shorr says.
People were lined up outside the door before the story opened on this Friday. Part of the proceeds from the sale of Madden’s clothes will go to a charity that was near and dear to her heart, the Bluegrass Boys’ Ranch.
The store opens at 11:00 a.m. It’s located at 1423 Leestown Road in Lexington.
