CONWAY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A  woman accused of beating a man in the yard of her Rockcastle County home, while her pit bull repeatedly bit him, says she doesn’t remember the attack, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The newspaper reports a Kentucky State Police detective testified Wednesday that 38-year-old Melissa Wolke told him she blacked out during the attack on January 10 that left 55-year-old Donald Abner, of Richmond, dead.

According to the newspaper, the detective says a witness, and police, saw Wolke on top of Abner, hitting him while her dog tore out chunks of his hair at her urging.

Autopsy results indicate Abner died from asphyxiation, according to the newspaper.

Wolke previously pleaded not guilty.

The newspaper reports the judge kept Wolke’s bond at $500,000 and sent the case on to a grand jury for consideration.
