LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A bus monitor has been arrested on a sexual abuse charge after police say he performed sexual acts on the bus he monitored, back in November.
According to the arrest citation, 18 year old Brandon Brown was on the school bus as a bus monitor.
It says Brown came in contact with the victim and touched the victim inappropriately.
The victim’s mother says her daughter was on her way home when this reportedly happened.
“I was very upset, shocked, hurt at the same time and she was crying and was upset,” said the victim’s mother.
The victim’s mother says she worries about her daughter’s protection.
“I feel like no parent should have to worry about the safety of their child on the bus or at school,” said the victim’s mother.
Fayette County Public Schools says Brown was a substitute monitor. FCPS says every employee must go through background checks including child abuse and neglect reports.
The district ended Brown’s employment the day it received the report.
“There is absolutely no tolerance for the reported conduct of the employee in this incident and immediate action is taken when such a report is received,” said Fayette County Public Schools in a statement.
Police have not said if the victim is a student, or how old the victim is.
