WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVQ) – U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has co-sponsored a resolution to dismiss articles of impeachment if they aren’t sent to the Senate within 25 days.

The bill, written by Republican Senator Josh Hawley from Montana, says if not sent within 25 days of adoption, articles of impeachment would be “exhibited before the Senate” and would allow any senator to introduce a motion to dismiss the articles “with prejudice for failure by the House of Representatives to prosecute such articles.”

The House passed articles of impeachment in December, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she will not send them to the Senate until she is made aware of rules for the body’s impeachment trial.
