Man accused of choking woman in Warren County

SMITHS GROVE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is in custody after deputies say he choked a woman until she was unconscious in Warren County Thursday.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were sent to a home in Smiths Grove at 12:09 a.m. for a domestic violence incident.

Deputies say the the woman told them she had been choked to unconsciousness, hit in the face and choked again. They say the woman had redness around her neck, scratches on her chest and swelling on the left side of her jaw.

Investigators say 40-year-old Bobby Vanmeter admitted to physically restraining the woman after an argument.

Vanmeter is charged with strangulation, unlawful imprisonment, assault and domestic violence, according to deputies.
