Police: Richmond woman dies after crossing highway in Louisville


LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Richmond woman is dead after trying to cross a highway in Louisville on New Year’s Eve.

According to WHAS, it happened on I-64 east around 9 p.m.

The Louisville Police Department tell WHAS 27-year-old Averi Lewis was a passenger in an SUV and, during an argument with the driver, she got out of the car and ran across the interstate, where she was hit by another vehicle.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

WHAS reports the driver of the SUV and the vehicle that hit Lewis remained at the scene.
