LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Many people traveled to Charlotte to cheer on the wildcats at the Belk Bowl, but several fans were watching in Lexington.
A Tin Roof manager says she expects it to be busy on any game day, but for the Belk Bowl she knew fans would get rowdy.
For game day, Tin Roof makes sure there are extra people on staff.
Solid blue fans prepped too by reserving tables. There was also a DJ spinning tunes during halftime and after the game.
The game was exciting from the start but towards the middle when the cats were behind people were frustrated and nervous.
“Very nervous. It didn’t look good for awhile,” said Joan Wuibenberger, UK Fan.
Cats fans didn’t lose faith and with less than a minute left in the game Kentucky scored a touchdown.
“I thought the cats played great. I knew they’d pull it off. I was a little nervous but when Lynn got his running mate back and threw a touchdown it made it magical,” said Mandi Banahan, UK Fan.
“Getting a win like that close and down to the wire nothing will ever beat it. Cats baby! Let’s go! Let’s go,” said Cade Stidham, UK Fan.
The University of Kentucky wildcats won the Belk Bowl against Virginia Tech.
