City offering workforce grants to support job training, certifications and licensure

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The city is now accepting applications for workforce grants designed to support businesses and agencies operating in Fayette County that offer job training, certifications, and licensure to promote economic development activity.

The city is investing $200,000. Successful applicants are required to measure job placement or certificate/licensure attainment related to the training they offer.

Successful applicants will have a positive impact on economic or workforce development through:

  • Employment entry / re-entry
  • Certifications
  • Licensure

Applicants may request up to $50,000 per grant year. Only one application per grant category per agency is allowed.

The application submission date will begin on December 16, 2019 and end on January 13, 2020.

Complete applications must be received electronically by 4 p.m. EDT, January 13, 2020.  Grant guidelines are posted on Lexington’s Economic Development website:
